James A. Lovell Jr. was a test pilot before becoming a NASA astronaut. The story of the FLATs wasnt widely known until fairly recently. He later commanded the Apollo 14 in 1971the third lunar landingand became the fifth person to walk on the Moon. In his free time, he enjoys hiking and exploring the beautiful state of Maine. Gus Grissom died in 1967, in the Apollo 1 fire.
